Peacefully at rest on Sunday 21st February 2021 at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, Ann aged 68 years of Adlington House, Wolstanton, formerly of Denby Dale and a Maths Teacher at Holmfirth High School, beloved sister of Michael and Sylvia, a dear sister in law of Christine and Graham, loving aunt to Kathleen, Emma, James and Phillip, a loved great aunt to Gracie and Freddie, godmother to Simon, Joanne and Rachel, also a dear friend to many in Stoke-on-Trent and Yorkshire and will be sadly missed by them all.
Due to the current restrictions a private funeral service will take place at Wolstanton Methodist Church, Newcastle, Staffordshire on Thursday 4th March 2021 at 12.45pm prior to Cremation at Bradwell Crematorium. There will be a live webcast of the service at Bradwell Crematorium at 1.30pm, for log in details please contact the funeral director.

All our family were all very sorry to hear that Ann has died. As both a parent of her past pupils, and Chairman of the Governors during Ann’s time teaching at Holmfirth High School, I can vouch for her untiring teaching skills, cheerfulness and help and support for her students and fellow staff members. She was a ray of sunshine that greatly assisted the school in achieving persistently high rankings in the area and contributed to the future academic success of both our own, and many other children in our community. I am sure she will be sadly missed by many colleagues and old HHS students and I feel honoured to have known her RIP Ann you deserve it.
Ann was my first teacher when I went to Holmfirth High School in 1978. Thinking about it now, she would have been very young to be in charge of a class of naughty 12 year old Yorkshire kids – but she did it brilliantly. She was a great teacher, lots of fun and helped so many of us achieve so much, inside and outside the classroom – including chaperoning loads of us for the many national music competitions HHS entered (and frequently won) back in those days. Ann and her colleagues gave me the foundations that enabled me to achieve what I wanted in life; I am just one of countless HHS former pupils who owe her so much. Thank you Ann and thinking of your family and friends at this very difficult time.
