  1. I knew Derek through him working at Jackfield Infant School, where no job was too much trouble for him. He always greeted everyone with a smile and often made witty comments or jokes. Derek was polite and a true gentleman. Rest in peace.

  3. Derek was the happiest person I have ever met, it was a privilege and an honour getting to spend time in his presence at Jackfield. No job was to big for Derek, “can you just” were always words he would like to here. Sending deepest condolences to Jeanette and the family.

  4. Derek was one of the most generous people I have ever met. He always made us smile when working with him at Jackfield. Nothing was ever to much trouble for him. Derek could always make us something out of nothing and bring it with him on the bus. He will be truly missed. Fly high Derek xxx

  5. It’s difficult to explain how important Derek was to the school community at Moorpark Junior – his constant willingness to help in any situation, his duty of care to the building and people in it, and his sense of humour which saw us helpless with laughter on many occasions. Such a lovely, caring man, who genuinely would do anything for anyone.

  6. Knowing Derek from firstly as a work colleague at Moorpark, then a work friend and lately as a friend I am not sure how people will cope without him. He was the most lovely caring man and a gentleman who was happiest when he could help people. xxx
