Peacefully at rest on Sunday 3rd August 2025 at Springfield Manor Care Home, Irene aged 100 years, formerly of Trentham and Hanford. Reunited with her beloved husband Robert ‘Bob’ and stepdaughter Gillian, she passed away just a month short of her 101st birthday and was thrilled to have received a card from the King last September. Irene had enjoyed a wonderful life and was very well known in North Staffordshire, especially Trentham, where her husband had been manager for the Sutherland Estate for many years. She was still very active until quite recently when she spent her last few months in the care of the wonderful staff at Springfield Manor. Irene will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all her loving family and many friends.
A celebration of Irene’s life will take place at St. Giles Church, Newcastle-under-Lyme ST5 1QS on Tuesday 26th August 2025 at 11:15am prior to cremation at Bradwell Crematorium.
Would friends wishing to attend kindly meet at the Church.
No flowers please but donations would be greatly appreciated for Iris’s Cats in Need to reflect Irene’s life long love of her many cats. A donation box will be available at the Church should anyone wish to make a donation on the day.
