Beautiful memories silently kept, of one that we loved and will never forget.

Peacefully at rest on Friday 17th April 2020 at her home, Vera aged 95 years of Bagnall Heights, Bagnall, now reunited with her beloved husband Arthur (Art), a much loved aunt, neighbour and a dear friend to many. Vera will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Vera was a land girl during the second world war and was awarded a medal for her contribution to the war effort. The picture above shows Vera taking a trip on ‘The Orient Express’, which she did more than once.

Due to current restrictions a private funeral will take place at Carmountside Crematorium.

A memorial service will take place later in the year. Donations would be gratefully received in memory of Vera to the RNLI, via the funeral director.

  1. Vera was a dear friend to our family, her husband Art worked with my Dad and I have known her all my life – 60 years. She was a really lovely lady and we will all miss her. Love from Lesley, Irene and Phil ( family of the late Len Smith). Rest in peace Aunty Vera.
