Philip Dwight Whale (Phil)

“When you love someone enough, there is no such thing as goodbye.”

Suddenly, on Thursday 12th November 2020 at his home, Phil aged 72 years of Blurton, the dearly loved and loving husband of Maureen, the much loved and treasured dad of Dave, a loving father in law of Nicola, a dearly loved and cherished grandad of Lewis, also a loving brother, brother in law and uncle. Phil will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all his loving family and many friends.

Harold Gratton

“May you find comfort knowing those that love the Lord live forever in heaven, even as their memory lives forever in our hearts.”

Peacefully at rest on Thursday 12th November 2020 at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, Harold aged 93 years of Rowan Court, Newcastle, now reunited with his beloved wife Maureen, the dearly loved and loving dad of Karen, a dear father in law of Phil, a much loved and treasured grandad of Emma and Ande, also a dearly loved uncle of Net and Paul.

Harold will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all his loving family and friends.

A funeral service will take place at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Newcastle, on Monday 23rd November 2020 at 10:45am, following the current government guidelines on the number of attendees, followed by a private family interment.

Stanley Axon (Stan)

“Words will not wipe away your tears and hugs may not ease the pain, but hold on to your memories because forever they will remain.”

Peacefully at rest on Thursday 12th November 2020 at Clement Court Care Home, Chell, Stan aged 90 years of Stoke, the dearly loved and loving husband of Mary, the much loved and treasured dad of Mark and Anthony, a loving father in law of Nelyn, a dear brother of John also a dearly loved and cherished grandad of Zoe, Jake, Brooke and Paloma.

Stan, a true grafter and a no fuss gentleman, who had time for anyone who needed him, a truly devoted, protective and loving husband and a fantastic, encouraging and supportive father will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all his loving family and many friends.

Due to the current restrictions a private funeral service will take place at Carmountside Crematorium on Thursday 26th November 2020 at 9am.

Mark WAKEFIELD (Wakey)

Peacefully at rest on Saturday 7th November 2020 at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, Mark aged 53 years of Stoke, the dearly loved and loving son of the late Dorothy (Dot) Wakefield, a much loved and treasured dad of Lily, also a dearly loved brother of Mandy and Sharon.

Mark  will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all his loving family and many many friends.

Due to the current restrictions a private funeral service in memory of Mark and his mum Dorothy  will take place at Carmountside Crematorium on Friday 27th November 2020 at 1.30pm

The funeral cortège will be travelling down Corporation Street, Stoke then turning right into London Road where the cortège will be pausing for a short while at the Commercial Public House at approximately 12.25pm, then proceeding onto Wetherspoons, Stoke where the cortège will be pausing again at approximately 12.40pm for people to pay their respects.

David Deakes (Dave)

“It’s hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember.”

Owner of the Victoria Lounge Bar/The Reardon, Hanley and former owner of the Midland Snooker Centre, Hanley.

At rest on Tuesday 27th October, 2020 at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, Dave, aged 81 years of Trentham, the dearly loved and loving husband of Eileen, a much loved and respected dad of David, Karl, Tracy, Mandie and Brooke, a loving father in law of Dawn, Claire and Julie, also a dearly loved and treasured grandad of Poppy, Tiana, Harry, Gabrielle, Vincent, Slaine, Evan and Esme.

Dave, who won the English Boys Billiards title at the age of 16, became involved in snooker in the late 1970s. He was a true gentleman who was always willing to help anyone, he was just a fantastic guy. Dave will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all his loving family and many friends.

Due to the current restrictions a private funeral service will take place at Carmountside Crematorium on Monday 16th November 2020 at 2:30pm.

Brian BAILES

Peacefully at rest on Saturday 5th September, 2020 at the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, Brian aged 76 years of Wolstanton, the dearly loved and loving husband of Christine, the much loved and respected dad of Alistair and Julian, a loving father in law of Elizabeth and Louise, also a dearly loved and cherished grandad of Andrew, Benjamin, Jennifer and Christopher.

Brian, a generous man who would always help anyone who needed it, was community spirited especially when it came to his cricket family. He had a soft spot for the pub and the horses and he had a particularly gifted green thumb. Brian’s garden was a thing of beauty, he could lose hours to it, but more than anything he was a proud and devoted family man

Brian will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all his loving family and many friends.
