God saw you getting tired

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered “Come to me.”

With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn’t make you stay.

Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

Walter Edward Rawlins (Wat)

“We love them. We miss them. We grieve them. And so, we live our lives to make them proud.”

Peacefully at rest on Friday 29th May 2020 at RSUH, Walter aged 85 years of Newcastle, the dearly loved and loving husband of Hilda, a much loved dad of Wayne and Karen, a loving grandad of Craig, Andrew, Lisa, Lucy, Matthew, Penny, Daniel and Jackson, also a treasured great grandad.

A kind hearted, loving, gentle man, with a potty mouth and a dry sense of humour,  he could create laughter that would travel round the room like a bouncy ball, ricocheting off anyone in ears distance.
He was a creature of habit and knew how his day would run, as did those closest to him, but would still make sure to tell them each and every time just to make sure.

Walter was a hard-working man both in the Army and as a porter. He was adored in his roles and did them all to a high standard and with great humour. He would throw his arms open to anyone in need of a squeeze and say ‘step into my office’.

Walter will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all his loving family and many friends.

Due to current restrictions a private family service will take place at Bradwell Crematorium on Thursday 11th June 2020.
